Our history begins with one of the oldest families of bargemen in Bordeaux and its navigation basin: the LARROSE family.
The oldest have fished for gravel in the Garonne sur Bordeaux. Others sailed on the Entre-Deux-Mers canal.
Désiré Larrose, the grandfather of our history, transported wine between Sallèes d’Aude and Bordeaux (Bassin à flot). He did this work for 40 years for Castelvin. His grandson Denis Larrose, after having sailed for the town hall of Toulouse, was the last hydrocarbon carrier between Montpouillan (Marmande) and Pauillac.
THE BIRTH OF AQUITAINE CRUISES
In January 2009, he created Aquitaine Croisières following the acquisition of the Mirabelle barge hotel. It was the first hotel boat to organize cruises in the Bordeaux region.
He found the best way to transmit the passion of his Bordeaux and boatwoman origins. By sharing the navigation along the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers. The rivers guide you through one of the largest vineyards in the world. Also in the heart of the 6 major Bordeaux wine regions to discover the Bordeaux heritage. But also in search of UNESCO monuments, castles, historical sites, churches, museums or small properties….
In May 2016, it is a new turning point with the arrival of the MS-Bordeaux and the launch of cyclo cruises, a new concept in France that gives pride of place to the exploration of our region under a new perspective.
In 2017, the company set up 2 new wharves:
1- On Castets-En-Dorthe in April 2017, the village where the family house and the company’s headquarters are located. We are the first and only cruise passengers to sail on this sector of the river to allow our passengers a better encounter with the Canal de l’Entre-Deux-Mers, Verdelais, Saint-Macaire, La Réole…
2- On Loupiac in June 2017, with the installation of its pontoon called Gascon for the MS Bordeaux and the discovery of the wines of Sauternes Loupiac, Sainte-Croix du mont, Cadillac. We hope to revitalize this sector of the river where we are the only ones to sail.
Every day that passes, we write our history…
